NEWINGTON, Conn.- State Transportation Commissioner Ralph J. Carpenter announced today that a Milling and Resurfacing project will be performed on SR 639 (Colman Street) and SR 641 (Jay Street, Truman Street, Bank Street and Huntington Street), in New London. This project is scheduled to begin on or about Wednesday, September 26, 2007 and continue through Thursday, October 18, 2007.
The work will take place on SR 639 from U.S. 1 (Jefferson Ave.) to U.S. 1 (Bank St.) and on SR 641 from Eastbound U.S. 1 (Frontage Rd.) to U.S. 1 (Bank St.).
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 8:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. (Monday – Saturday evenings). No work will take place on Sundays.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work area.
