Route 219
Reconstruction and Safety Improvements
New Hartford, CT - The Department of Transportation announced today that, weather permitting, beginning Tuesday, September 4th Route 219 (Reservoir Road) will be closed to all traffic beginning at the intersection of Ratlum Road. Exempted from this closure will be New Hartford and Barkhamsted emergency vehicles and school buses. Local residents must use the posted detour or Ratlum Road to access their property.
This closure will be in effect for the entire month of September 2007, until mid-October 2007.
Detour Information:
Motorists traveling south on East Hartland Road (Route 219) are being detoured onto Saville Dam Road (Route 318). Continue west on Saville Dam Road to Pleasant Valley Road (Route 318) Take a left onto Pleasant Valley Road. Cross over the Farmington River and take a left onto River Road (Route 181). Continue on River Road to the intersection with New Hartford Road (Route 44).
Motorists traveling north on New Hartford Road (Route 44) will continue past Route 219 to the intersection of Route 44 and River Road (Route 181). Continue on River Road to the intersection of Route 318 Take a right over the Farmington River onto Pleasant Valley Road (Route 318) Continue on Route 318 to the intersection with Saville Dam Road (Route 318). Take a right on Route 318 and continue to the end of the detour, approximately two miles.
Construction signs and a temporary traffic signal will be utilized for traffic control.
Motorists are urged to use caution through the work zones and should reduce their speed accordingly.
