NEWINGTON, Conn. - Acting Transportation Commissioner Emil H. Frankel announced today that a Bridge Maintenance project will be performed on Route 8 (southbound) between Exits 33 and 30, in Waterbury. This project is expected to begin on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 and continue through Thursday, March 6, 2008. The I-84 westbound off ramp to Route 8 southbound (Exit 19) will be closed while the work is being performed.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 9:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. (Wednesday & Thursday evenings).

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
