The Department of Transportation announced today, that beginning April 28, 2008, traffic in both the eastbound and westbound directionof I-84 will be shifted to the right between exit 65 and 66 in Vernon. Temporary line striping will be installed to make use of the right shoulders as travel lanes. Temporary precast concrete barrier curb will be installed adjacent to the left lanes to protect the work area in the median. This work is part of the ongoing construction of an aluminum pipe arch tunnel over the Rails to Trails bikeway which replaces the highway bridges at that location.
Work on this $5.2 million project is being performed by Rotha Contracting Co. Inc. of Avon under contract with the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The anticipated completion date of this project is November 30, 2008.
