Route 4

Bridge # 00431 over the Farmington River and

Intersection and Safety Improvements on Route 4 at Town Farm Road

Farmington, CT - The Department of Transportation announced, weather permitting, the commencement of construction activities for the Replacement of Bridge #00431, Route 4 over the Farmington River and Intersection and Safety Improvements on Route 4 at Town Farm Road on Monday, March 24, 2008.  The project is scheduled for completion in November 2010. Middlesex Corporation of Littleton, MA will be performing this work. 

Motorists are to expect lane closures.

The allowable work hours are as follows:

Traffic Operations

Bridge # 00431, Route 4 over the Farmington River

Existing traffic will be maintained between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.  Alternating one-way traffic may be encountered between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am Monday through Friday, and 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Saturdays and Sundays. 

Route 4 at Town Farm Road

Existing traffic will be maintained between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Alternating one-way traffic may be encountered between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am Monday through Friday, and Saturdays and Sundays. 

Traffic may be halted to expedite construction for up to ten (10) minutes from 12:01 am through 5:00 am.

Construction signs, uniformed Traffic control personnel and Local Police will be utilized for traffic control.

Motorists are advised to abide by the posted speed limit and expect traffic delays.
