Bristol, Connecticut- The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction work is scheduled to begin on July 21, 2008 for the realignment of East Road and Union Street at Route 69 in the city of Bristol. Under this project East Road will be straightened between Beecher Road and Greystone Avenue including the addition of a new concrete structure over Mountain Brook with minor realignment of the watercourse. The intersection of East Road and Union Street will also be relocated away from Route 69. The intersection of East Road and Route 69 will be moved south on Route 69.
The intersection of Union Street and East Road with Route 69 will be closed during construction. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on Rte 69 and all other roadways, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. & 9:00 a.m. and between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at all times.
The contract was awarded to DeRita Construction Co., Inc. of Middletown, Connecticut at a cost of $2,667,762.75 on June 4, 2008 and is scheduled to be completed in May 2010.
Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and proceed with caution through this and all other construction work zones.
