The Department of Transportation announced today that beginning Monday, June 2, 2008, construction is scheduled to commence on CT Route 66 at the intersections of Main Street and North Main Street in East Hampton.

The work will include the reconstruction of the intersection at Main Street and North Main Street, along with new traffic signal installation and left turn lanes. Drainage upgrades and new colored concrete sidewalks are also part of the project.

Work on the project will require lane and shoulder closures at various times starting on Monday June 2, 2008. Construction signs, traffic cones, and Town Police will be utilized during lane closures.

A minimum of one traffic lane will be maintained in each direction:

- On Route 66 west of Main Street between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and

9:00 a.m. & between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

- On Route 66 east of Main Street between the hours of 6:00 am and 10:00 am & between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

- On Main Street and North Main Street between the hours of 7:00 am and 9:00 am & between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Red Technologies, LLC. of Bloomfield, Connecticut is performing the work on this $1.6 million project under contract with the Department of Transportation.  The project is scheduled to be completed by April 2009.
