Reconstruction of I-95 from Exit 50 to Exit 51 in
The work includes:
· Reconfiguration of Exit 49 (
· Reconstruction and widening of I-95 between the
· Reconstruct Woodward, Townsend and
· Open I-95 northbound to 4 lanes from Interchange 50 to Interchange 51.
· Open I-95 southbound to 3 lanes– Interchange 51 to existing
The contract was awarded to O&G Industries, Inc. of
It will provide much needed safety improvements with the addition of the travel lanes, improved interchanges and new bridges. The biggest benefit will be the improvement to traffic flow in this portion of I-95 which many consider to be one of the most congested areas of the state.
Nighttime closures will occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting:
Week of June 30, 2008: Opening of all lanes including ramps on I-95 northbound and southbound to be completed.
July 7 - July 10, 2008: I-95 northbound final paving and line striping from Exit 50 – 51
July 14 - July 17, 2008: I-95 southbound (SB) milling, final paving and line striping from Exit 51 to the on-ramp from Exit 50 (Woodward Avenue/Main Street/Stiles Street).
