Canaan and Salisbury, Connecticut - The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that, weather permitting, the temporary traffic pattern for construction required for the replacement of Bridge No. 00562 over Housatonic River will commence on Monday, September 22, 2008.  Alternating one-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals in the southbound lane of the existing bridge will be in effect until late spring 2009.

The bridge will be closed to pedestrians during construction. Appalachian trail hikers will be detoured westerly along Lime Rock Road and northerly along Dugway Road to reconnect to the trail at Falls Mountain Road on the west side of the Housatonic River.

These construction activities are part of an 11.6 million dollar contract that will be constructed by Brunalli Construction Company of Southington, CT under the direction of the Department of Transportation, District 4 Construction Office.
