The Department of Transportation announced today, that beginning September 8, 2008, traffic in the eastbound and westbound directions of I-84 will be shifted to the right between exit 65 and 66 in Vernon. Permanent line striping will be installed as traffic will be in its final alignment. As the project enters its final stage, temporary precast concrete barrier curb will be installed adjacent to the left lane to protect the work area. This work is part of the ongoing construction of an aluminum pipe arch tunnel over the Rails to Trails bikeway which replaces the highway bridges at that location.

Work on this $5.2 million project is being performed by Rotha Contracting Co. Inc. of Avon under contract with the Connecticut Department of Transportation.  The anticipated completion date of this project is November 30, 2008.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and precede with caution through this and all other construction work zones.
