Closure of the State Street Bridge over the Mill River in New Haven starting October 30, 2009

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the closure of State Street between Lawrence Street and James Street in New Haven starting Friday, October 30, 2009. The closure will be in effect for approximately one year to allow the replacement of the existing bridge.

Detour signs have been installed to assist motorists around the road closure. Truck traffic must follow truck detour route which is posted. State Street is scheduled to be reopened on October 30^th, 2010.

Automobile and Pedestrian Detour: East Street to Lombard Street to James Street.

Truck Detour: East Street to Grand Avenue to James Street to Lombard Street to Blatchley Avenue.

The Contract was awarded to C.J. Fucci Construction Inc. on Mary 2, 2009 at a cost of $5,071,068.05 and scheduled to be completed by May 5, 2011.
