Culvert Rehabilitation – Interstate 95 over Spinning Mill Brook in Guilford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the Department’s Office of Engineering is developing plans to rehabilitate a culvert that carries I-95 over Spinning Mill Brook, near the southbound Exit 57, east of Route 1 in the town of Guilford.
The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate the deteriorating 6-foot diameter corrugated metal culvert by sliplining with a new liner pipe. The work may also involve constructing a new endwall at the outlet, and providing improved outlet protection. Construction vehicle access from Route 1 south of I-95 will be required to accomplish this work.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in 2011, with construction anticipated to start in 2012. This project will be undertaken with 90% federal Interstate Maintenance funds and 10% state funds.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Scott A. Hill, PE, Manager of State Design, at (860) 594-3272, or by e-mail at Scott.Hill@ct.gov. Please make reference to Project No. 170-2875 – Guilford .
