Intermittent Nighttime Closure of I-95 Southbound and I-95 Northbound near Exit 45 in New Haven is scheduled to begin Monday, September 21, 2009
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the installation of structural steel for the Howard Avenue Bridge in New Haven is scheduled to occur from 9 PM to 6 AM beginning Monday, September 21, 2009 and will continue for approximately two weeks. Work will occur weather permitting.
The work will affect I-95 Northbound (NB) and I-95 Southbound (SB) near the Howard Avenue Bridge over I-95 (Exit 45) with potential lane closures between the hours of 9 PM and 6 AM. Traffic on I-95 NB and I-95 SB will be halted for 10-minute intervals several times overnight between 12 midnight until 5 AM to protect drivers, passengers, and pedestrians while the work is performed. Work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled, if necessary.
The work is part of the Howard Avenue Bridge Reconstruction Contract and is adjacent to the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program. The Howard Avenue Project is located in New Haven and consists of the reconstruction of the Howard Avenue Bridge over I-95. Additional work includes the installation of a new IMS conduit on I-95 NB as well as work in the median and shoulders on I-95. Construction is scheduled to be completed in February 2011.
