Intersection Improvements to Begin on Route 10 (Whitney Avenue) at Mount Carmel Avenue and Westwoods Road in the Town of Hamden
The Connecticut Department of Transportations is announcing that construction will begin on July 30, 2009 for intersection improvements at Route 10, Mount Carmel Avenue and Westwoods Road in the Town of Hamden
The project consists of the realignment of Westwoods Road with the existing Mount Carmel Avenue at the Route 10 intersection. Westwoods Road and Mount Carmel Avenue will be fully reconstructed and Route 10 will be resurfaced. New traffic signals and bus stops will be installed as part of this project. There will be substantial utility relocation work performed in this area to accommodate the new roadway alignment.
Lane closures will begin on July 30, 2009 for various construction activities.
The project was awarded to DeRita Const. Co. Inc., Middletown , CT on June 29, 2009, at a value of $5,328,832.50 and is scheduled for completion in August 2011.
Allowable Lane Closure Periods are:
Route
Monday – Friday 9 AM to 3 PM, and 8 PM to 6 AM
Saturday - Sunday 9 PM to 10 AM
