Nighttime Bridge Work to Commence, Route 15 Exit 87 (Brainard Road Off Ramp) over Route 15, Hartford

The Department of Transportation announced today, that beginning Monday, January 26, 2009, nighttime reconstruction work is scheduled to begin on the bridge carrying traffic from Route 5 and 15 southbound to Brainard Road (Exit 87).

The work will involve stage construction bridge demolition, pile driving, concrete placement and steel erection.  This nighttime work will take place periodically as needed for the duration of the project. 

Lane Closure information

Nighttime closures –

Reduced to single lane from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. weeknights and at anytime during the weekend.

Detour- Route 15 southbound effective January 29, 2009 from 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Route 15 at the Brainard Road overpass may be closed to traffic during night time bridge work.  Motorists will be directed off Route 15 south at Exit 87.  Traffic will be able to re-enter Route 15 south from the off ramp.  This closure will not occur every night.

Daytime closures –

Reduced to single lane in either direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Work on this $5.1 million project is being performed by Arborio Corporation of Cromwell, Connecticut under contract with the Connecticut Department of Transportation.  The anticipated completion date of this project is in April 2010.
