Project No. 28-197, Pavement Preservation Project on Route 2, Towns of Colchester and Lebanon
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the Department’s Office of Engineering is developing plans to resurface east and west travel lanes of a section of Route 2 through the Towns of Colchester and Lebanon. The specific pavement limits for this section begin at mile marker 25.35 (1600 ft east of Route 354, in the Town of Colchester ) and extend to mile marker 31.11 (1100 east of Scott Hill Road Lebanon
"It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken," said Marie. “It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development.” At this time, it is not anticipated that a public informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be necessary.
The work is maintenance oriented, with a purpose of improving the existing bituminous wearing surface, extending the service life of the pavement and correcting the cross slope of the roadway. New pavement markings and rumble strips will also be installed. The right shoulder and ramps will not be milled and paved.
Construction is anticipated to start in fall 2009 and be substantially completed in the 2009 construction season with minor work completed in spring 2010. The duration of work is anticipated to last one to two months. This project will be undertaken with federal funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
