State Project No. 006-120, Pavement Preservation, Route 8, Towns of Seymour, Beacon Falls and Naugatuck
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that its Office of Engineering is developing plans to resurface the travel lanes on a section of Route 8 in the towns of Seymour, Beacon Falls, and Naugatuck.
The specific paving limits begin at log mile 19.26 (North Main Street ) in the town of Seymour , and extend through Beacon Falls , ending in Naugatuck at log mile 25.14 (Exit 25 – S. Main Street), a distance of approximately 6 miles.
"It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken," said Marie. “It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development.” At this time, it is not anticipated that a public informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be necessary.
The purpose of this work is to extend the service life of the travel lane pavement and replacing rumble strips. The shoulders and ramps will not be paved.
Construction is anticipated to start in fall 2009. Work on this section of roadway is anticipated to last five to six weeks. This project will be undertaken with federal funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
