Amtrak Bridge Replacement Project in Branford Activates Info Line for Construction Updates
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a project info line has been activated to provide updated information to the public about the construction operations and hours of work for the replacement of the Amtrak Bridge over U.S. Route 1 in the Town of Branford.
The info line number is (203) 315-0966, is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and plays a recorded message of the current project information including the hours of work. Information in the pre-recorded message is updated weekly and will be available for the duration of the project.
The project extends from Orchard Hill Road to the I-95 Exit and Entrance Connector on U.S. Route 1. In addition to the installation of the new Amtrak Bridge , work will include the installation of a new box culvert at Mill Creek under Route 1, installation of new traffic signals at Alps Road , the entrance to the A&P Shopping Center and Route 142 along Route 1, and various drainage improvements and widening of the pavement on Route 1.
DOT Project No. 0014-0157 was awarded to J.F. White/Empire, Joint Venture, of 10 Burr Street , Framingham , Massachusetts at a cost of $44,706,241.35 on June 29, 2009. The project officially began August 13, 2009 and is currently scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2014.
The construction project is one of several transportation infrastructure initiatives being funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
