Closure of State Street Bridge between Lawrence Street and James Street in New Haven starting Monday October 18, 2010

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the closure of State Street for the replacement of the bridge carrying State Street over the Mill River in New Haven. The closure is scheduled for October 18, 2010 and will be in effect for approximately one year.

Detour signs have been installed to assist motorists around the road closure. Truck traffic must follow the posted detour route.

Automobile and Pedestrian Detour: East Street to Lombard Street to James Street.

Truck Detour: East Street to Grand Avenue to James Street to Lombard Street to Blatchley Avenue.

The project consists of replacement of the entire bridge structure including approach work, new drainage structures and pavement. The new bridge will be a single span structure eliminating the need for a mid-river pier.

DOT Project No. 0092-0561 was awarded to C.J. Fucci, Inc. on April 2, 2009 at a cost of $5,071,068.05 and is scheduled for completion in February, 2012.
