Completion Date Revised for Replacement of the Route 184 Bridge over Whitford Brook in the Towns of Stonington and Groton

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the completion date for the replacement of Bridge No. 02779 on Route 184 over Whitford Brook in the Towns of Stonington and Groton has been revised to November 20, 2010.

The bridge had been heavily damaged during the heavy rains in March of this year and the Department and the contractor are working to have the bridge reopened before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Detour In Place- Route 184 is closed to thru traffic from Shewville Road to Lantern Hill Road. Traffic is being detoured onto Route 27, Main Street and Lantern Hill Road.

The contract for this work was awarded to Blakeslee Arpaia Chapman, of Branford Ct on June 30, 2010 at a cost of $ 1,889,967.20 and is being administered by the Office of Construction, District 2, Norwich.
