I-84 Westbound Ramp to I-91 North To Be Closed At Night During Replacement of Overhead Sign Support on the Bulkeley Bridge in Hartford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the I-84 westbound off-ramp to I-91 north (Exit 51) will be closed to traffic at night beginning Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 9 p.m. for the replacement of the overhead sign support on the Bulkeley Bridge in Hartford.
The work will involve the removal of the overhead sign support, installation of new foundations, removal and installation of a portion of the concrete median on the bridge and installation of a new sign support system.
During the closure of Exit 51, motorists will be detoured to Exit 50 (Market Street) onto Reverend Moody Overpass and re-enter I-91 north at Jennings Road. The schedule for lane and ramp closures is Monday-Thursday, 9 pm to 6 am and Fridays, 11pm to 6 am. The nightly closures are scheduled to be in effect until June 11, 2010.
Special Note- Exit 51 will not be closed until 1 a.m. on the nights that Comcast Theater in Hartford has an event.
DOT Project No. 0170-2662 is being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The contract was awarded to ADF, Industries, Inc. on June 19, 2009, at a value of 4,084,860.00 and is scheduled for completion by July 15, 2011.
