Motorist Advisory – Expected Delays to Continue on Route 3 north and southbound in the towns of Wethersfield and Glastonbury at the William H. Putnam Bridge over the Connecticut River
Motorists can expect daily lane closures on Route 3 northbound from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Route 3 southbound from 9 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m. and are scheduled to continue through October 2010. Motorists are urged to use the Route 5 & 15 Charter Oak Bridge and other available routes to avoid delays.
A major portion of the work needs to be completed during daytime hours and the duration will be dependent on the extent of the required repairs and the weather. Motorists traveling Route 3 north in the morning should use I-91 northbound Exit 29 to the Charter Oak Bridge as an alternate route over the Connecticut River.
DOT Project No. 53-183 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast of Plantsville, CT on July 21, 2010 for completion of various structural steel repairs on Bridge No. 0417 that carries Route 3 over the Connecticut River .
