Nighttime Ramp Closures Scheduled Starting April 19, 2010 for Route 15 in the towns of Fairfield and Trumbull, including the anticipated closure of several ramps over the next few weeks.
The Connecticut Department of Transportations is announcing that night time ramp closures are scheduled as construction activities along Route 15, Merritt Parkway, in the towns of Fairfield and Trumbull increase with the onset of warm weather.
The ramps are being milled and paved and will be closed from 10 PM to 5 AM. Detour signs will direct motorists to alternate route and exits. The scheduled closures, weather permitting are:
Rt.15 southbound
- Monday, 4/19, Wednesday 4/21 and Thursday 4/23/10 - Exit 48 (Rt. 111) on and off ramps
Rt.15 northbound
- Thursday, 4/22 and Friday, 4/23/10- Exit 46 (Rt. 59) on and off ramps
The project extends from the Congress Street overpass in Fairfield to Exit 52 in Trumbull and includes restoration of 13 bridges and a complete bridge replacement over the Mill River between Exits 44 and 46 in Fairfield .
Long term work zones will be installed in some locations to allow for road reconstruction, drainage installations and bridge work. Lane widths in these areas will be reduced to 11 feet with only 1 foot shoulders. In addition to the above noted detours motorists can expect lane closures as follows.
Route 15
- Shoulder closures only 9 AM - 3 PM
- Southbound between 7-8 PM until 5 AM
- Northbound between 9-10 PM until 6 AM
Routes 58, 59, 108 and 127
- From 9 AM - 3 PM and 6 PM - 6 AM
Route 111 and Main Stree
- From 7 PM - 6 AM
- No daytime closures
DOT Project Nos. 0050-204/206 and 144-178/180 is being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The contract was awarded to O & G Industries, Torrington , CT on May 4, 2009, at a value of $66,586,998.22 and is scheduled for completion by August 2012.
