The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00604, Route 8 Northbound over Fenn Road in the Town of Thomaston will start Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
DOT Project no. 140-164 was awarded to NJR Construction, LLC of Harwinton, Connecticut on September 4, 2009 at a cost of $1,680,784.13 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2010.
The project consists of the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00604 along Route 8 Northbound in Thomaston which carries traffic over Fenn Road . Improvements to the bridge include a new concrete bridge deck, painting of the structural steel as well as updates to the bridge bearings, bridge piers, wing walls, parapets and abutments. The bridge is located just north of Exit 40 on the northbound side of Route 8.
The first phase of construction will include the installation of construction signs and temporary line stripping with installation of temporary concrete barriers and removal of the existing concrete bridge deck.
Motorists can expect lane closures along Route 8 northbound throughout the project at any time. However, a minimum of one lane must be maintained at all times.
