Resurfacing and Safety Improvements on I-95 in the Towns of East Lyme, Waterford and New London
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a resurfacing and safety improvement project for Interstate 95 from Exit 72 (Rocky Neck Connector) in East Lyme to Exit 83 (Vauxhall Street) in New London is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, June 15, 2010.
DOT Project No. 44-151) was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut, Inc. of New Britain , CT on May 13, 2010 at a cost of $16,976,643.85 and is scheduled to be completed in July 2012.
The project consists of pavement milling and resurfacing, bridge deck repair, upgrades to guide rail, installation of concrete median barriers, installation of drainage and cleaning/repair of existing drainage systems. Also included in the contract is the relocation of existing, and placement of new, overhead traffic signs and installation of fire protection systems on various bridges within the project limits.
Motorists on I-95 can expect temporary lane shifts and/or closures during the evening between 7:00pm and 7:00am. Shoulder closures can also be expected during the daytime hours of 7:00am and 4:00pm.
