Scheduled Intermittent Nightly Closures on Route 15 Northbound and Southbound in the Towns of Fairfield and Trumbull for Week of November 8, 2010
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 15 will be reduced to a single lane of traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be halted for 10-minute intervals several times between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. to allow for removal of selected trees within the median area. Work will begin at the northern limits of the project near Exit 52 and progress southerly into Fairfield beginning Monday night, November 8, 2010.
All trees that are scheduled for removal have been reviewed, evaluated, and tagged by the Department of Transportation in a cooperative effort with the Merritt Parkway Conservancy and area tree wardens. Only those trees that have been evaluated and found to be diseased, pose a potential risk to the traveling public or are within the safety improvement construction limits are being removed. The work is scheduled for completion by Friday November 12, weather permitting.
The work is part of DOT Project Nos. 0050-204/206 and 144-178/180, an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project which is scheduled for completion by August 2012.
