Setting of Structural Steel over I-95 southbound for the Route 34 Flyover Project in New Haven scheduled for the nights of Sunday, April 11 through Wednesday, April 14, 2010
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that nighttime lane closures and stopping of traffic for approximately 30 minute intervals will affect travel on I-91 and I-95 southbound, and Route 34. The project will be transporting and setting the new bridge girders for the section of the Route 34 flyover bridge over I-95 southbound.
I-91 southbound lane closures will extend back to Exit 9 as the girders for the bridge are transported to the interchange. Route 34 ramps to I-91 and I-95 north will be closed between the hours of 10 PM and 6 AM also to allow for the work at the interchange. Traffic stoppages on I-95 and I-91 will occur between the hours of 12 a.m. and 5 a.m.
Motorists can expect significant delays during the road closures. Please plan ahead and consider alternate routes to get to your destination.
The Department has worked with the contractor to schedule these activities to have the least impact to the traveling public while maintaining a safe work zone for the transport and installation of the steel.
