Bridge Work on I-95 in Stratford Requiring Closure of Portion of U.S. 1 Between the Barnum Avenue Cutoff And Ferry Boulevard
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that traffic will be rerouted at the Barnum Avenue Cut-Off and Ferry Boulevard interchange area to allow for demolition work on Bridge No. 0133 (I-95 overpass of U.S. 1 Northbound).
The project consists of the reconstruction of I-95 in both directions from the overpass of Route 130 near Exit 33 (Ferry Boulevard/Route 1) to Exit 34 (Bridgeport Avenue/Route 1) in the towns of Stratford and Milford. The project includes replacement of the Moses Wheeler Bridge and other I-95 bridges including Barnum Avenue Connector, East Main Street/U.S. Route 1 and Naugatuck Avenue. Local/State roads that will be directly affected by construction activities include Barnum Avenue Cut-Off, East Main Street/U.S. Route 1, Dock Drive No. 1 located in the Dock Shopping Center, and Naugatuck Avenue.
DETOUR INFO - Bridge No. 133 I-95 overpass U.S. 1 Northbound:
The detour will be in effect for two (2) weeks, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning March 28, 2012.
DOT Project No. 138-221 was awarded to Walsh Construction/PCL JV II of Canton, Mass. on July 8, 2011 with an official start date of August 22, 2011 and an anticipated completion date of August 31, 2016.
