Milling and Resurfacing, Route 53 in Bethel and Danbury
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 53 in Bethel and Danbury.
The project consists of resurfacing a 4.44 mile segment of Route 53 between the Redding/Bethel Town Line and Coal Pit Hill Road in Danbury. This project is scheduled to occur the evening of Thursday, July 5, 2012 to the morning of Wednesday, August 1, 2012.
This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2012 Milling and Resurfacing Program.
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Sunday – Thursday evenings). The milling will be performed between Thursday, July 5, 2012 and Tuesday, July 17, 2012, and the paving portion of the project is scheduled to begin Sunday, July 22, 2012. One lane of alternating traffic will be maintained while work is being performed.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
