Nighttime Traffic Impacts on Interstate 95 and the Route 25 & 8 Interchange in Bridgeport and Fairfield are Scheduled to Occur Friday, May 4 and Saturday May 5, 2012
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that several nighttime traffic stops will occur along Interstate 95 north and south and at the Route 25/8 interchange in Bridgeport and Fairfield on Friday, May 4 and Saturday May 5, 2012, between 12 a.m. (midnight) and 6 a.m.
Traffic stoppages will occur in 10 minute intervals approximately 5 times during the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. to allow for the pulling and tensioning of aerial wires that cross I-95. There are two locations to be completed and the first night, Friday, May 4 will be for the crossing at Route 130, Fairfield Avenue (Exit 25) area. The second night, Saturday, May 5, 2012 will be at South Avenue located south of on ramps from Route 25 & 8 and Myrtle Avenue (Exit 27A and Exit 27).
Motorists will encounter heavy traffic delays during this time and are asked to seek alternate routes.
The operation is weather sensitive and will be rescheduled to the weekend of May 12, and May 13, 2012, if conditions are not favorable.
The work is part of DOT Project No. 0015-0296/0301-0070 that includes an overhaul of the overhead Catenary wire system and replacement of five bridges on the New Haven Rail Line between Bridgeport and Fairfield. The contract was awarded to Ducci Electrical Contractors of Torrington, CT.
