Route 66 (the Arrigoni Bridge) will be restricted to alternating one-way traffic to complete preparatory work in advance of the final paving of Stage 3 (northern side of the bridge) on the two main spans. The work includes the removal of the temporary concrete barrier and crash system, eradication of the temporary pavement markings and placement of temporary marking tape to delineate travel areas and the work zone.
Upon completion of this work, traffic will be restored to the pattern/alignment that is currently in place - one lane in each direction along south side of structure with the north sidewalk remaining closed, until the final membraning and paving of the Stage 3 deck system is completed at the end of August.
Several more traffic shifts will be occurring after Labor Day. These traffic shifts will be required to complete final membraning and paving of Stages 1 and 2 which currently have temporary pavement in place. The milling and paving of bridge approach areas and sidewalk repairs remain to be completed as well. The contract is on schedule and will be completed in November 2012.
LANE CLOSURE INFO-
The weekend work will require alternating one way traffic to be in effect beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, with completion by 6 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2012.
Travel Advisory
Motorists are to expect significant delays. Please use alternate routes if possible.
Pedestrian and Bicyclists Advisory
The sidewalk located on the north side of the bridge will remain closed. The new sidewalk on the south side is open.
DOT Project No. 0082-0299 was awarded to The Middlesex Corporation on April 26, 2011 at a cost of $16,946,864.00 and is scheduled for completion by November 13, 2012.
