The project consists of the removal and replacement of the existing precast bridge deck, including the parapets, sidewalks and roadway approaches. The traffic signals are also being upgraded as part of the work.
The work will be completed in several stages with Stage III commencing on October 16, 2012. Two lanes of both eastbound and westbound traffic will continue to be maintained on the structure. Eastbound traffic will be shifted to allow for the demolition of the southern portion of the bridge structure. Additional notices will be provided prior to new stages of construction.
The south sidewalk will be closed and pedestrian traffic will use the northern sidewalk during the current stage of construction. Expect lane closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
DOT Project No. 0135-0291 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Co., Inc. at a cost of $3,795,328.60 on February 14, 2012, and is scheduled to be completed July 25, 2013.
