I-95 Bridge and Auxiliary Lane Work in Norwalk
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the opening of the Cedar Street bridge and the closing of both Taylor Avenue and Fairfield Avenue overpasses in Norwalk for the I-95 Interchange 14 (Route 1) and 15 (Route 7) reconstruction to add auxiliary lanes on the Interstate 95.
The bridge work is part of a project to construct continuous auxiliary lanes (referred to as speed change lanes) between Interchange 14 (Route 1) and Interchange 15 (Route 7) and improvements to Route 1 in Norwalk. Additional infrastructure improvements include the replacement of three overpass bridges (Fairfield Avenue, Cedar Street, and Taylor Avenue) that carry local streets over 1-95 and improvements to drainage facilities, pedestrian and traffic operations including the addition of seven-foot wide sidewalks along both sides of Route U.S. 1.
Cedar Street over I-95 in Norwalk over I-95 will be Open to the Public.
Cedar Street will be open to the public between Summit Avenue and Route 1 on November 11, 2013, weather permitting.
Taylor Avenue and Fairfield Avenue over I - 95 in Norwalk will be in Closed for construction.
The Project will proceed with the next phase by closing both Taylor Avenue and Fairfield Avenue bridges over I-95.
LANE CLOSURES INFO- The project is being constructed in stages and work on the Interstate will be limited to night time operations.

Monday thru Wednesday 9 p.m. To 6 a.m., Thursday 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.,
I-95 Southbound
Monday thru Thursday 9 p.m. To 6 a.m., Friday 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday,
Route 1 and all local roads:
Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m
DETOUR INFO - Taylor Avenue will be closed to the public between Church Street and Route 1 and Fairfield Avenue between Reed Street and Route 1 starting on or about November 11, 2013, and lasting until Winter of 2014. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the areas.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
