Northbound Traffic Shift on Interstate 95 in Stratford and Milford Rescheduled to Thursday, January 31, 2013
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the second major shift to move northbound traffic onto the old southbound lanes of the Moses Wheeler Bridge in Stratford and Milford is being rescheduled to Thursday, January 31, 2013.
The traffic shift for northbound I-95 is the second of two major shifts occurring so that work can continue on the replacement of the Moses Wheeler Bridge that carries Interstate 95 over the Housatonic River. Southbound traffic was shifted earlier last week onto the new section of the bridge.
Northbound traffic will be shifted left onto the section of bridge previously occupied by the southbound traffic to allow for the demolition of the existing northbound travel lanes and construction of next section of superstructure.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Interstate 95
One lane of traffic will be closed at 7 p.m. so that preliminary work can begin on the realignment efforts which include resetting concrete barrier, adjusting signing and applying pavement markings. The shift will be completed by 6 a.m. the next morning in time for morning rush hour.
Special Advisory
I-95 lane widths are reduced to 11 feet during construction and the legal speed limit is 45 mph between Exits 33 and 34.
Additional lane closure information can be found at the project website www.moseswheelerbridge.com.
