This project proposes to place 5/8-inch of Ultra-Thin Bonded HMA Pavement (Type B) overlay on Interstate 84. The project limits in the westbound direction will begin at mile marker 39.98 (just east of the Marion Road underpass) in the town of Cheshire and extend 2.77 miles to mile marker 42.75 (Exit 30, Marion Avenue and West. Main Street) in the town of Southington. The eastbound limits will begin at mile marker 40 (Exit 27, I-691 EB) in the town of Cheshire and extend 2.51 miles to mile marker 42.51 (east of the Marion Avenue overpass).
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in November 2013, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2014. This project will be undertaken with 100 % State funds.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. It is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be held for this project due to the limited nature of the proposed work.
