Pavement Preservation on Route 82 , Towns of Chester and Haddam
The purpose of this project is to enhance pavement performance by using a cost-effective treatment to extend the service life of the existing pavement. A section of Route 82, which runs through the Towns of Chester and Haddam, has been identified as a candidate for this program. The Department is developing plans for a 2.5” mill followed by 2” of hot mix asphalt over .5” thick rubberized chip seal on Route 82. The project begins in Chester and ends in Haddam for a total project length of approximately 2.75 miles.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in May 2014 , with construction anticipated to start in spring 2015. This project will be undertaken with 80 % Federal and 20 % State funds.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. It is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be held for this project due to the limited nature of the proposed work.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. William W. Britnell, Principal Engineer of Highway Design, at (860) 594-3274, or by e-mail at William.Britnell@ct.gov. Please make reference to State Project Number 0026-0125.
