Project No. 0157-0084, Retaining Wall Improvement/Replacement, Town of Weston
The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s (Department) Office of Engineering is developing plans to improve/replace an existing retaining wall on Route 53 (Newtown Turnpike), in the Town of Weston. The purpose of this project is to provide road safety for the traveling public by proposing to improve/replace the existing retaining wall that is exhibiting signs of deterioration. This project was initiated as part of the Department’s Retaining Wall Rehabilitation Program.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in December 2013, with construction anticipated to start in the spring 2014. The project will be undertaken with 100% State funds.
It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.
