Replacement of Bridge Carrying S.R. 616 (Norwich Avenue) Over an Unnamed Brook in the Town of Colchester
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the project for the replacement of bridge (No. 01914) carrying S.R. 616 (Norwich Avenue) over an unnamed brook in the town of Colchester is scheduled to start Thursday, March 14, 2013.
The project includes the replacement of the
structure with a reinforced cast in place concrete slab supported by integral
abutments, and the construction of concrete end walls at all four corners of
the bridge.
Road work includes a bituminous concrete
overlay at the bridge and at the bridge approaches, minor drainage
improvements, and the installation of metal beam railing at the approaches to
the bridge.
DOT Project No. 0028-0194 was awarded to McCarthy Concrete,
Incorporated of South Windsor, Connecticut at a cost of $850,168.49 on February
6, 2013 and is scheduled to be completed in August 2014. This project will be
administered by Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

One
lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on S.R. 616 (Norwich
Avenue). An alternating one-way traffic operation will be maintained when the
contractor is actively working on the project.
