Resurfacing and Revised Lane Markings Project – US Route 5 (State Street) in New Haven
The Connecticut Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the City of New Haven, will be resurfacing and revising the lane markings on U.S. Route 5 (State Street) from the James Street/I-91 northbound off-ramp to Rock Street to provide a single travel lane with dedicated exclusive turning lanes at the signalized intersections in each direction. The purpose of the lane marking changes is to provide wider shoulders for non-motorized users.
It
is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such
projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns
with the Department to assist in the
project’s development. If there is
adequate interest, an information meeting will be conducted. At this time, it is not anticipated that a
formal public hearing will be necessary.
Construction
is anticipated to begin in late spring/early summer 2013.
Anyone interested in requesting information on this
project may do so by contacting Mr. Kenneth A. Lussier, Project Engineer at
(860) 594-2729. Please make reference to
Project No. 173-432.
