Section of Oakwood Avenue in West Hartford To Be Closed to Traffic Tuesday, October 22, and Wednesday, October 23rd between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Oakwood Avenue will be closed to traffic between Caya Avenue and Kane Street from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, and Wednesday, October 23, 2013.  The closure is required to complete the structural steel installation on the bridge.
The work is part of a project for the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 01757, Oakwood Avenue #2, over Interstate 84 in the Town of West Hartford. The bridge is located between Exit 43, Park Avenue interchange, and Exit 44, Caya Avenue and Prospect Avenue interchange.
The project work consists of total replacement of the structural steel beams and girders, bridge deck and parapets. The bridge height will be raised to add clearance over I-84 requiring reconstruction of the approach areas to the bridge including intersections.
DETOUR INFO – 9 pm. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, 10/22/13 and Wednesday, 10/23/13:

Traffic will be detoured using St. James Street, South Quaker Lane and St. Augustine Street. St. Charles Street will be closed; residents will be advised to use South Quaker Lane. Detour signs will be posted to assist motorists through the area.

Westbound: 8 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday

DOT Project No. 0155-0164 was awarded to Northern Construction Services, LLC of Palmer, MA on October 24, 2012 at a cost of $3,297,972.50 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2014.
