Nighttime Traffic Shift and Lane Width reduction for I-95 Bridge over West River

in New Haven and West Haven

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that lane width reductions and traffic shifts to realign the I-95 Northbound and Southbound travel lanes over the West River in the towns of New Haven and West Haven are scheduled to begin on Monday, May 5, 2014. The work will be done during the overnight hours.

The upcoming night work on I-95 involves lane width reductions from 12 feet to 11 feet and traffic lane shifts of all I-95 Northbound and Southbound lanes for the entire length of the project from the Howard Avenue overpass at the east end to the I-95 bridge over Metro-North at the west end.  This Stage 1A work includes the installation of advance warning signs, restriping of the traffic lanes and the installation of precast concrete barrier curb on each side of the median.  The work is necessary for the removal of the existing median and the installation of temporary drainage in preparation for Stage 1B.

DOT Project No. 0092-0522 was awarded to The Middlesex Corporation of Littleton, MA at a cost of $129,773,454.00 on November 12, 2013 and is scheduled to be completed by November 30, 2018.
