Pavement Preservation Program – Interstate 91 in Hartford and Windsor
The purpose of this program is to enhance pavement performance by using cost-effective treatments to extend the service life of the existing pavements. A section of Interstate 91 in Hartford from the vicinity of the Sam Colt Building to approximately 600 feet south of Interchange 37 in Windsor has been identified as a candidate for this program. The Department is developing plans for pavement improvements by milling the existing wearing surface of Interstate 91 and its ramps and then overlaying it with new bituminous concrete asphalt.
The present schedule indicates
that the design will be completed in October
2014, with construction anticipated to start in spring
2015. This project will be undertaken with
80% federal and 20% state funds.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed
and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important
that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. It is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing
will be held for
this project due to the limited
nature of the proposed work.
Anyone interested in receiving

project may do so by contacting Mr. William W. Britnell,
Principal Engineer of Highway Design, at (860) 594-3274, or by e-mail at William.Britnell@ct.gov. Please make reference
