Replacement of CT DOT Maintenance Facility in Norwich
The Connecticut Department of Transportation's (Department) Office of Engineering is developing plans for the replacement of the existing maintenance facility and renovation of the existing salt shed at 125 Taftville-Occum Road in the Occum section of Norwich. The purpose of this project is to replace a functionally obsolete facility. The number of vehicles and personnel will remain the same.
The
project involves the construction of a new 20,000 square foot maintenance
facility, repairs to the existing salt shed, and corresponding site
improvements. The existing maintenance
facility will be demolished. The present
schedule indicates that final design plans will be available in August
2015. The project will be state funded.
It
is the Department's policy to keep the public informed when such projects are
undertaken. It is important that the
community share their concerns with us to assist in the project's
development. If there is adequate
interest, an informational meeting will be conducted. At this time, it is not anticipated that a
formal public hearing will be necessary.
Anyone
interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr.
Michael Strong, Project Engineer, at (860) 594-3306 or by e-mail at michael.strong@ct.gov. Please make reference to the Occum Maintenance
