Temporary Closure of Route 79 (Durham Road) in Madison

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 79, Durham Road, will be closed to traffic between Bradley Road and Woodland Road/Old Route 79 in Madison starting Friday night November 14, 2014. The closure is expected to continue until completion of the project by November 18, 2014.

The temporary closure is required to complete replacement of the severely deteriorated 24-inch corrugated metal drainage pipe across Route 79 which is located approximately 20 feet deep below the roadway.

Leading up to the full roadway closure, preliminary daytime construction activities will commence on Monday November 10, 2014, to shift two lanes of traffic to one side and install temporary barriers for protection at the work zone area.

Work may be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

DETOUR INFO-

The detour routes will be clearly marked to assist motorists and pedestrians around the closure at all times.

-  Cars will use Bradley Road, Old Route 79 and Woodland Road.

-  Truck traffic will use I-95 Exit 62 to Route 1.

DOT Project No. 0075-0132 was awarded to Guerrera Construction Company, Inc. of Oxford, CT for an estimated cost of $225,000.00 on November 5, 2014.
