Bridge Closure for the Replacement of Bridge Carrying Route 275 over Willimantic River at the Coventry/Mansfield Town Line
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is closing Route 275 on Monday, September 21, 2015 for the replacement of the Bridge No. 02866 which carries Rte. 275 over Willimantic River in Coventry and Mansfield. The closure is expected to last ten weeks and the bridge is expected to be reopened November 30, 2015.
A detour will be posted using Route 31 South to Route 32 East from the Coventry side and Route 32 West to Route 31 North from the Mansfield side.
The existing structure is a two-span structure built in 1973, and carries a single lane of alternating traffic. The replacement bridge consists of a new two-span superstructure with precast concrete box girders and the bridge will be widened to provide two 11-foot lanes for motor vehicle traffic and 5-foot shoulders for pedestrian traffic.
DOT Project No. 0032-0148 was awarded on June 15, 2015 to New England Infrastructure Inc. of Hudson, MA at a cost of $2,496,966.75 and is scheduled to be completed in December 2015.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
