DOT to Install Osprey Nest Platform on East Haddam Swing Bridge

      In response to requests from local citizens and public officials, the Connecticut Department of Transportation will erect an osprey nest platform on the East Haddam swing bridge, which carries Route 82 over the Connecticut River between East Haddam and Haddam. Almost every year in March, ospreys build a nest on one of the bridge trusses. The new platform will be adjacent to the truss currently used by the ospreys.

      This work is scheduled to start on Monday February 2, at 8:00 a.m. and continue through Tuesday February 16, at 4:00 p.m.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

      Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. Limited lane closures and shoulder work are scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  No lane closures will occur on any observed holidays.

      Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
