Mid-block Crosswalks to be Constructed on Route 137 (Washington Boulevard) between Tresser Boulevard and Broad Street in Stamford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work for installing pedestrian crosswalks and traffic control equipment is expected to begin on August 27, 2015, along Stamford’s Washington Boulevard.
This project will provide additional pedestrian access between the east and west sides of Route 137 via crosswalks controlled by High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) beacon systems. A new mid-block crosswalk will be installed on Route 137 between Main St and Broad St to provide pedestrian access between the expanding Mill River Park on the west side and parking garages on the east side. An existing crosswalk and median located just south of Bell Street will be reconfigured for improved pedestrian visibility.
Project No. 135-327 was awarded to M. Rondano, Inc., of Norwalk at a cost of $1,217,222.50 on July 14, 2015. Construction is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2016.
LANE CLOSURE INFO-
