Motorist Reminder: I-84 Detour Required for Weekend Bridge Inspection in Waterbury

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that a detour will be required on I-84 Westbound in Waterbury this weekend for a bridge inspection. Exit 19 to Route 8 Southbound will be closed from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015. In the event of inclement weather, the inspection will be performed and the ramp closed on Sunday, January 11, or on the weekend on January 24-25.

      The work is part of the inspection of the Waterbury “stacks,” where I-84 and Route 8 connect.

      Motorists heading to Route 8 Southbound from I-84 Westbound will be detoured onto Exit 18 (Highland Avenue), then to Chase Parkway and then onto Route 8. State Police and variable message signs will be in place to guide motorists.
