Nighttime Rehabilitation of Bridges on Route 8 in Bridgeport
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that nighttime pavement joint repairs are being performed on Route 8 in Bridgeport through the week of October 19, 2015. Work hours are 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
This work is the initial phase of the ongoing Design Build project involving the rehabilitation of Bridge Nos. 03761, 03762, 03764 and 03765 carrying Route 8 over Capital Avenue and Lindley Street. These repairs, which are scheduled to last approximately 3 weeks, will commence on September 28, 2015 and occur between 7 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
This project is part of a ConnDOT initiatives program promoting the use of innovative contracting and construction techniques. In addition to the use of Design Build contracting, the project will utilize Accelerated Bridge Construction methods which will shorten the overall duration of the project while at the same time minimizing the impacts to the traveling public. LANE CLOSURE INFO
The regular schedule for this work is from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (Monday thru Friday).
Motorists traveling southbound on Routes 8 and 25 can expect lane closures between the Route 8/25 merge and Exit 3 (Main St). Motorists traveling northbound on the Route 8/25 connector can expect lane closures between Exit 2 (Lafayette Square) and Exit 5 (Boston Ave). Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.
Segments of the following routes will be impacted by this project: Routes 8 and 25 in the City of Bridgeport. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.

DOT Project No. 15-363 was awarded to the Design build team of Manafort Brothers, Inc. of Plainville, CT and Parsons Brinkerhoff on March 27 for $34,752,000.00 with an official start date of May 11, 2015 and an anticipated completion date of July 25, 2016.
