Project No. 0120-0092, Safety Improvements on Route 85, Town of Salem
The Connecticut Department of Transportation's Office of Engineering is developing plans to improve safety on Route 85 in the vicinity of Skyline Drive (north entrance) and Burnett's Country Gardens.
Work is anticipated to include wider
shoulders, better sight lines, improved drainage on
the
curve just north
of Skyline
Drive, and
providing bypass capability
for
vehicles on
Route 85 southbound at Burnett's Country Gardens.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in December 2016 , with construction anticipated to start in summer
2017. This project will be undertaken with
80 % federal and 20 %
state funds.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed
and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important
that the community
share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. A public
informational meeting may be conducted upon the completion of the preliminary design. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing
will be necessary.
